A Nationwide Fundraising Campaign Launched To End World Hunger.
A fundraising campaign has been launched to raise awareness and funds to end world hunger. Changing Someone’s World is a nationwide campaign to help raise awareness about hunger across the world and fundraise £250,000 from cities and towns across the UK. Team Rossendale, made up of five dedicated members aim to raise £10,000 towards this campaign. Rossendale is part of 12 other cities and towns across the UK, led by Tariq Razzaq, the CEO and Campaign Director.
Hameeda Mahmood and Leesa Amin got involved with the campaign after the Boxing Day floods at Irwell Vale. Leesa Amin, from Team Rossendale said “It was amazing to see volunteers from Muslim Community Events help residents of Irwell Vale get back on their feet after they were hit by floods. Volunteers from MCE helped to secure properties and got stuck in with the clear up process.” Leesa added “When the opportunity came to get involved with this campaign, we thought it was a fantastic way to raise funds and awareness of world hunger.”
The first event, a pamper day at Jake Alexander Hair & Body Sanctuary on the 23rd March saw people unite from all over the North West. Treatments included mini-facials, manicures, massages and refreshments. Donations and pledges were made by those who attended and a phenomenal £1405 was raised.
Hameeda Mahmood, Rossendale Team Lead said “Our inaugural event for the Changing Someone’s World campaign went down a treat. The staff at Jake Alexander Hair and Body Sanctuary went above and beyond to make all the guests feel welcome. The event was a rapturous success and we are looking forward to replicating this progress.”
